1) Accessible Language Essentials

Most communication breakdowns do not happen because of “bad intent.” They happen when information is too dense, full of jargon, or delivered in a way that does not match the client’s needs. This course teaches the core elements of accessible language so you can communicate with clarity, respect, and consistency, without overexplaining.

2) Client-Fit Communication Choices

You will learn how to match communication options to real client profiles, including when to use interpreters, plain-language handouts, visuals, or other supports. You will practice turning complex instructions into clear steps, and choosing delivery approaches that improve comprehension and reduce confusion in the moment.

3) Real-World Scenarios

Follow Romello, a service coordinator working with families, as he learns what works and what does not in real support-service interactions. Through practical scenarios, do’s and don’ts, short videos, and interactive activities, you will spot patterns, make better choices, and build communication habits you can use immediately on your next call.

What you will walk away with - LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Identify the four aspects of accessible language—Availability & Options, Simplification, Language Delivery, and Expansive vs. Contractive Language—by matching each aspect to its correct description or example.
  • Select the most appropriate communication option(s) for a given client profile (e.g., interpreter, plain-language handout, visual aid) to support availability & options.
  • Choose the best simplification strategy for a complex instruction (e.g., break into steps, remove extra info, use visuals) to improve clarity.
  • Distinguish effective from ineffective language delivery choices (e.g., font size/amount of text, pacing/volume, tone/pronunciation) and select the adjustment that improves comprehension in a scenario.
  • Identify jargon and acronyms in sample statements and select the clearest plain-language alternative, and recognize likely negative impacts on clients when accessible language is not used.

Don't just take our word for it

See what our students have to say about our courses:

“Honestly, this was the most useful two-hour course I have taken in years. The tools are practical, the pace is easy to follow, and the scenarios felt like real client conversations. Romello reminded me of how I sounded when I first started, so the do’s and don’ts really stuck.”

Janelle P.
Service Coordinator

“I bought this for myself and ended up sharing it with my team because it’s immediately usable. The course breaks down what to say, how to say it, and how to avoid misunderstandings without sounding rigid. The videos and quick activities made it surprisingly engaging.”

Marcus D.
Program Supervisor

“This course helped me tighten up my communication without losing warmth. I loved that it focuses on real-world decision points, not theory. The scenario approach with Romello made it easy to spot patterns and choose better wording in the moment. I used a few changes the same week.”

Elena S.
Clinical Social Worker

“This is the kind of training people actually finish. It’s short, clear, and well-produced, and the examples keep you paying attention. The biggest win for me was learning how to simplify instructions into steps that clients/families can follow without feeling talked down to.”

Kevin R.
Training Manager

“I expected something dry, but it was actually fun and very practical. The do’s and don’ts made me realize where I overload clients with information. Romello’s scenarios felt familiar, and the course gave me better options that still sound like me.”

Nadia K.
Therapist, Community Services

“This training was a great reset. It gave me better language I can use right away and helped me catch small habits that create confusion. The videos were short but effective, and the interactive parts made it easy to stay focused. Romello’s story felt like a mirror of early-career mistakes.”
